Update on Linking Blood Glucose Meters for Medtronic Insulin Pumps

thumbnail

We have good news to share with our U.S. customers today. We just announced, along with our partner Bayer HealthCare, a new blood glucose meter that will link to Medtronic insulin pumps.

The CONTOUR® NEXT LINK has a bright, easy-to-read color display, requires a small blood sample size (0.6 microliters) and uses Bayer’s patented No-Coding™ technology to eliminate inaccurate test results that occur due to miscoding of the meter. In addition, CONTOUR® NEXT LINK uses Bayer’s new CONTOUR® NEXT blood glucose test strips which deliver next-generation accuracy coupled with ease of use.

This new meter comes with a built-in USB connection and pass through technology, so you can plug it into the USB port on your computer to upload the information from your insulin pump and CGM to CareLink. This eliminates the need for the CareLink USB that our customers currently use.

The CONTOUR® NEXT LINK wirelessly communicates directly with either the MiniMed Paradigm REAL-Time Revel or the MiniMed Paradigm REAL-Time insulin pump, which can help reduce errors.

Starting today, new customers will receive CONTOUR® NEXT LINK with their new pump order. Our existing customers will be contacted by Medtronic and provided with new meters over time, beginning in January of 2013

Stay tuned for updates over the next few months. In the meantime, if you have any questions, just let us know in the comments!
