Our Favorite Support Blog Posts From 2012 | The LOOP Blog

All year long I have had the pleasure of writing a variety of support related blog posts here on The LOOP. While using technology to assist with a disease as complex as diabetes, there is an opportunity to learn something new every day. Whether it’s reminders of things you might have learned during your insulin pump training, tips on when to use advanced features, or finding out how to do something better after failing miserably, there are so many opportunities to dig deeper to help you reach your highest potential with an insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring. So, before we enthusiastically enter into 2013 to learn about a variety of new topics, I wanted to highlight and share a roundup of some of my favorite support blog posts written from 2012.

Lifestyle Tips and Tricks

Preparing for a Wet and Wild Summer – Every summer on the call center phone lines and social media channels here at Medtronic there is always a question buzzing about the best way to handle summertime with a pump. Here’s how!

Tape Tips and Site Management – Tape tips are really important but it’s one of those topics that doesn’t come up often during the initial training (because there are so many basics to cover). I wrote this post to share an educational piece I helped to create about tape tips and insertion site management that might help you learn more about this.

Insulin Pump Settings

Meet Your Individual Needs Using Basal Patterns – The pump offers so many advanced options, one of them being basal patterns. This post shares my firsthand experience from earlier this year when I learned how to use basal patterns to meet the needs of my ever-changing schedule.

Keep Your Pump Settings Handy – You might have had an experience where you needed your pump settings documented but didn’t have them at your fingertips, so learn some ways about how you can be proactive. You won’t regret this!

Caring For Your Device

Spring Cleaning: Pump Edition and Spring Cleaning: CGM Edition – With everything each of us deal with on a daily basis when it comes to managing diabetes, a rare thought might be to make sure your devices are clean. Although it isn’t something you need to do often, it is good to take care of them just like you would with any other device you use every day. Take notes with these so you do it right!

Tricks of the Trade for Protecting Your Pump Buttons – A topic that I really enjoyed researching is the importance of protecting pump buttons. No, we don’t need to live in a bubble of plastic wrap to keep our device in tip-top shape, but did you know there are some really simple things you can do to make sure you keep your pump buttons protected?

I hope you have enjoyed my support blog posts as much as I enjoyed doing the research to write them for you! Now tell me, are there any topics you would like to learn more about in the New Year? I would love to hear your ideas, because then you just might see one of them turn into a blog post here on The LOOP!
