Medtronic Engineering Team Wins IDEA Award for Enlite Serter
Today we’re excited to congratulate Uli Rankers and his team of engineers here at Medtronic for winning a silver IDEA award for the Enlite™ Serter!
The 2012 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA®) program is a celebration of design excellence in products, sustainability, interaction design, packaging, strategy, research and concepts.
The Enlite Serter, a winner in the medical device category of the IDEA program, is used with the Enlite continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensor. The person with diabetes loads the Serter with an Enlite Sensor and pushes a button to insert the sensor beneath the skin. The product design includes improved ease of insertion features over previous serters, such as a hidden needle during insertion, a 90 degree insertion angle, and a one button insertion process.
Enlite and the Enlite Serter are investigational devices in the US and not approved for sale in the US.
We’re all very excited for Uli and his team for this recognition of how hard they work every day to improve the lives of people living with diabetes!

I hope this becomes available in the US by my next upgrade. The 90 degree angle will be a big improvement.

I’m sorry but, due to FDA rules, I can’t provide details about products that are not approved for use in the U.S. Of course, when any new product is approved, we’re always sure to let our community know.
