Happy Blogaversary! Top Posts From Our First Year

Can you believe it? It’s the LOOP’s first blogaversary already! And, of course, we couldn’t have done it without you, our readers. Thank you!

It seems like just yesterday we were nervously hovering over the “publish” button for the first time, asking ourselves things like:

“Is this first post okay?” “Will anyone read it?” “Can we really do this – do we have something to say that the DOC will care about?”

That was really the big question. The Diabetes Online Community is an amazing community of incredibly smart and big-hearted people. The support and encouragement you provide each other continues to impress us. And we only wanted to start this blog if we had something of value to share with you.

The good news is… you came, you read, you left us comments and told us what you thought! Looking over the year’s top posts, you really do care about travelling with your diabetes devices, tape tips and those littlelumps and bumps around infusion sites. You love to hear about new products like the mySentry Remote Glucose Monitor, and myMedtronic Connect.

Just like we did, you seem to have fallen for the Boivin family, some very dedicated D-parents who got tattoos of Medtronic pumps on their stomachs in solidarity with their little boy! Wow! (Big thanks to Kerri Sparling for sending them our way!) And you seemed to really like hearing from Lane Desborough, D-dad and product strategist working on the artificial pancreas.

We’ve really enjoyed getting to know you better over this first year. We had a lot of laughs working with George Simmons on the bacon contestand were honored to submit a video for the You Can Do This Project, the amazing brainchild of Kim Vlasnik.

Of course, we’re always looking for ways we can do better. So, as we excitedly embark on our second year of the LOOP, please tell us: What more can we do? What would you like to hear more/less of from us?

Please tell us in the comments and, to celebrate the milestone, we’ll give three commenters a copy of Diabetes Warrior: Be Your Own Night in Shining Armor by William “Sir Lee” Dubois

Thank you very much for sharing with us and engaging with us – and cheers to another great year!

Oh wow! Congrats on your first Blogaversary! I am so happy for you. You guys have done an amazing job with this blog and other avenues of social media to reach out to us in the DOC.
My favorite are the user stories, like the one by Karen Graffeo's post that you featured recently. I would love to see more user stories from people all over the DOC.

I'd like to see an area on the medtronic site that allows feedback and requests from the users of their products. I have been a Minimed pump user for 24 years (!!). I am now using the Paradigm 523 pump with the CGM. Aside from calling tech support, I can't find a way of giving feedback to the product development team at Medtronic. I would to be more involved, as it is such an important part of my, and my families, life.

Just discovered the blog today from your tweet. As a dad of two t1 diabetics, I'm always on the watch for news of advancement in research, treatment and most importantly a cure. We're thankful for our daughter's Revel pump...has changed her management dramatically. Thank you! And I'll add your blog to my reader!
