Amanda Sheldon
Amanda Sheldon, director of public relations for the diabetes business unit of Medtronic, serves as the managing editor of The LOOP.
After beginning her career in technology, Amanda turned to healthcare communications after facing a variety of health issues with her family. She wanted to utilize her passion for communication to raise awareness of important medical conditions and how to treat them – from heart disease to degenerative spine conditions.
In January of 2010, she came to Medtronic. Weeks later, while reading Dr. Francine Kaufman’s book, Diabesity, on a cross-country flight, the symptoms of diabetes appeared all-too familiar. When the plane touched down and she called home, her husband told her what, by then, she already knew. “Your dad was just diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.” Just one more reason she works so hard each day.
